Florida Shooting - People Knew, But No One Said Anything

Everyone Knew He Was Capable, but No One Said or Did Anything About It

Nikolas Cruz is alleged to have premeditated the murder of students at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, a school from which he was expelled for disciplinary reasons.

To a student, no one was surprised that he did this.
Nikolas Cruz Apprehended (Foxnews.com)

From a Foxnews.com story:

“Honestly, a lot of people were saying it was gonna be him,” the unnamed student told the news station. He said kids joked around that the student would be the one to “shoot up the school.”

If the students knew, you can assume the teachers knew, which then means the school's administration knew all this.

Yet, not a peep was heard from law enforcement or some other agency to be on the lookout for this kid.

How, then, could this have happened? How did this young man come to "own" a firearm at all?

A Cruz family friend from Long Island, where the Cruz family is originally from, said she believed Nikolas Cruz "had issues" and was taking medication. Yet again, someone knew about Nikolas, but no one said anything.

Sound familiar? Refer back to the Harvey Weinstein debacle.

Once again Cruz's classmates said he was posting "sketchy" things on social media. He was known as a "loner", a "sketchy dude" that was troubled and caused trouble.

Columbine happened 19 years ago and I'm afraid, like the lessons we haven't learned from 9/11, we've learned nothing as a nation from that horrible crime.

Here are some things we need to own up to America:

Guns Are NOT the Problem

Guns aren't the problem. Guns are instruments, tools, if you will. They are amoral. Have no way of knowing how they'll be used. Like any other implement, guns can be used for good, as well as bad. Limiting guns, taking away guns from law-abiding Americans is not the answer. It's time for the anti-gun people to admit that.

People Are the Problem

Here we have yet another seemingly disturbed individual that had access to a firearm. People, and unfortunately, young people, have a problem. They stick their faces on their phones all day and consume all sort of horrible material. They are alone with their thoughts and interact with the wrong people on the Internet without anyone being the wiser. Their young, developing minds are being mishaped into deviant thinkers and society, instead of promoting not accepting these types of thinking, is teaching our children to embrace all sorts of things as "normal". We allow our children access to all sorts of violence and they, quite frankly, have become numb to it. It means nothing to them. Then, when you get a child that has a predisposition to violence, this often manifests itself into some sort of destructive behavior.

Criminals do not follow laws, that's what makes them criminals, after all. So, no amount of restrictive gun laws will stop crimes from being committed.

Society is the Problem

We've learned as a society in America that you can never criticize or seemingly speak against anyone for any reason, thus no one speaks out about what they see that might cause a problem. "See something, say something" are just words to make us feel safer, but society has yet to embrace that philosophy, so, as a result, we have horrendous crimes like what occurred in Florida this week happening.

We have Yet to Address the Obvious

We need to protect our schools. Americans are not willing to "do what's necessary" to protect our children. We need a comprehensive plan to provide every school with trained, armed guards, protective equipment, such as metal detectors and concrete barriers and surveillance equipment.

We also need a better handle on the mentally ill. That system is broken and we need to come together and somehow make sure those who have a mental illness do not have access to firearms. I'm not sure how you do that, but there has to be a solution to that problem as we see time and time again someone with "an issue" take a firearm (whether legally obtained or not) and cause destruction to human life, most often not their own.

Though the NICS is not foolproof, it at least is an attempt to ensure only those Americans who should, have access to legally-obtained firearms. We need to somehow attach this system to a database of those people who should not have access to firearms.

Gun owners need to secure their firearms when not in use. There are plenty of good solutions for those who want to defend their home and have access to a firearm. GunDigest.com has a great article on this subject entitled "10 Fast-Access Safes for Home Defense".

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) is a respected resource for all things gun safety. Own It? Respect It. Secure It® is a program they've created that advocates gun safety. It's a great program and seeks to educate all legal gun owners on gun safety.

We Need to Have Open, Honest, and Non-Contentious Discussions

It's time we stopped shouting each other down with our talking points and sit down and have an honest discussion on how we protect our children. It's about their safety, after all. They are the vulnerable ones. As adults, it's up to us. Let's all take a breath, swallow our pride and sit down as Americans and come up with a solution, so no more of these horrible crimes happens again, without at least some attempt to stop them while preserving the rights of all of us.

May God bless you and may God bless America.

Obama/Clinton on Orlando Terrorist Attack-It's America's Fault!

Once again, America is blamed for being attacked by a radical Islamic terrorist. And the blame comes from a familiar place, the Oval Office.

The worst mass murder in American history was carried out by a radical Islamic terrorist who pledged allegiance to ISIS. Not a Christian. Not an NRA member. A radical Islamic terrorist.

It seems like the only person (or persons) who cannot admit this are the current occupier of the Oval Office and the current Democratic candidate for that office.

Her response was that gay people should not have to live in fear in America and guns are evil.

So, she basically is blaming America too.

How about blaming the federal government that refuses to step in and stop radical Muslims (American or foreign) from committing such acts of terror? It is radical Muslims who are killing gay people. Gay people in Islamic countries live in real fear for their lives. They are being thrown off roofs and executed all over the Islamic areas of this world.

But, it's America's fault.

If the government will not commit to protecting us, shouldn't we get somebody in there who will?

America was not to blame for this cowardly, evil act. One need only look to where the evil-doer set his allegiance to know where the real blame lies.

Well, and to Washington, D.C. also.

Georgia's Governor Does a Ponctius Pilate on the State's People of Faith

Just like Pilate washed his hands of the death of Jesus Christ, Governor Deal did the same to the state's people of faith by vetoing Georgia's Religious Liberties bill.

Bending to pressure from the outside, Pilate gave over Jesus Christ to be crucified. Similarly lacking a spine or the conviction that upholding the religious rights of his constituents is a vow he swore to upon taking office, Governor Deal threw the faith-based community of Georgia to the Pharisees.

Instead of showing companies like family UNFRIENDLY Disney the southern Georgia border, he caved to economic pressure. Good job Governor Deal! Hope you haven't unpacked. You'll only be staying in the Georgia capitol a short time.

As it once was all the rage and socially acceptable to punish obese Americans by shaming them and making fun of them in public, it is now apparently also all the rage in the liberal progressive world to denigrate and punish all people of faith in America.

Those who are non-believers often trumpet their opposition to "Bible Thumpers", however it is now "LGBT Thumpers" who patrol this country, bashing every aspect of faith trying to force those with religious beliefs to accept those lifestyle choices as normal and OK.

Shame on you Governor Deal. I hope the good people of Georgia make their voices heard now and at re-election time by voting you out of there.

It's a shame in this country, founded on religious freedom (look it up), we now have degrading religious freedom. Why are our governments, local, state and federal, granting special rights to people who had all the rights guaranteed in the very Constitution they now subvert by denying religious freedom which is also guaranteed in that same founding document?

So, like Pilate, Governor Deal, though he washed his hands of the matter, will forever have dirty hands because he lacked the courage to do what's right. When you love money, more than what's right, you get what you pay for.

Cruz Didn't Insult This New Yorker

This New York Conservative isn’t insulted by Ted Cruz’s “New York Values” statement. Let’s face it, in the context in which he said it, he’s right.
What he said about Trump actually happened. Trump said what he said.

From Newsmax.com
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said at Thursday's GOP presidential debate he was referring to "socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro-gay marriage" attitudes when he said his rival Donald Trump had "New York values."

"Not too many years ago, Donald did a long interview with [NBC's] Tim Russert," Cruz said.

"And in that interview he explained his views on a whole host of issues that were very, very different from the views he's describing now. And his explanation, he said, 'Look, I'm from New York, that's what we believe in New York. Those aren't Iowa values, but this is what we believe in New York.'"

Do conservatives come out of Manhattan? Well The Donald mentioned exactly ONE. That’s about the size of it. It’s an ultra-liberal city. Anyone who says different is a liar, pure and simple. New York City, along with the other major cities in the state, is a major reason New York State leans left. Every New Yorker knows that. If you took New York City out of New York State, we’d more than likely go from blue to red.

Now, all this hoopla detracts from the fact that Ted Cruz is the only consistent constitutional conservative running in this race. His staunch support of the main founding document of our country in the face of overwhelming attack from those who’d subvert and ignore it, is a bellweather of his presidency. There actually are Americans, real Americans, that cannot stand that. They don’t want it. They want the America the current occupier of the Oval Office has fashioned. A socialist enclave for the weak minded, spineless pseudo-victims of today’s welfare state.

Ted Cruz wants us to return to the America my father fought for in World War II The America that was strong. Stood for something. Was exceptional. Feared by our enemies. Trusted by our allies.

Our children do not know that America. How insulting is that?
